It is relaxing and refreshing to take a few moments now and then during the day to bring our thoughts, feelings and emotions under control. We may not realize just how much power we have in stopping those negative thoughts from infesting into our spirit. We have a center of peace within us to which we can always turn. The place of peace, of stillness, of power can be entered into at any time.
Our willingness to let go of negative thoughts and feelings, our willingness to take a few moments to sit quietly and to breathe freely and easily of the breath of life can be a most rewarding practice.
The peace and quietness that is found in a moment of prayer stays with us and makes all that we do a joy. When we are relaxed, rested and refreshed, we are at peace in mind and body.

OUCH! I must admit to being trapped in the vicious self-pity cycle you are talking about. However, I came to the same conclusion myself a few weeks ago about letting go of the bad stuff and just “faking a good attitude” until I actually had one. It works! I am feeling better about myself, my business is moving forward again and I am working on the mess I have one thing at a time. Great post!

Bev,
First let me say I am sooo happy for you and Janie. Thank God she is ok.
Obviously this young lady does not have a good role model at home if the mother was drunk when she answered the phone. We cannot expect our children to not drink and drive if as parents and adults we do. I am guessing that she has seen her own mom/dad do this many times. Our children mimic and mirror back our words, attitudes and actions…I know I have a 34 yr. old son. There are times when I see in him the characteristics that I find the least flattering about myself…where did he learn those behaviors & bad language? Unfortunately from me.
